Conservation Finance FIG: U.S. Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF) – NEW

A special presentation on the U.S. Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF), with remarks by Andy French of the Wyss Foundation. This session will be an excellent opportunity both to hear about one of the most successful conservation finance models in the U.S. Since its creation in the 1960s, the LWCF has supported more than 46,000 projects, benefiting every U.S. county. It enjoys enduring bipartisan, industry, and community support – even in polarized times. Andy will share the fund’s history, structure, and the recent achievement of securing permanent funding of $900M USD annually. We’ll then discuss how the LWCF model could inform funding approaches in Canada, particularly at the provincial and territorial levels.
