Webinaires EFC Speaker Series (Funders only) – What It’s Like on the Frontline Supporting NQDS 3 décembre 2024 / Inscription ouverte Publié: novembre 5, 2024 Réservés aux Membres Réseauter Webinaires EFC Speaker Series (Funders only) – What It’s Like on the Frontline Supporting NQDS Many community organizations engaged in charitable work, including non-profits and grassroots groups, operate without charitable status and are categorized as ‘non-qualified donees’ (NQDs) by the Canadian Revenue Agency (CRA). Recent changes in CRA guidance have opened a new pathway for funders to support NQDs through direct grants, presenting a new partnership opportunity for many foundations. Resources are available to help navigate these potential partnerships, such as PFC’s webinar “Granting to non-qualified donees: Finalized CRA Guidelines” and a new funder toolkit collectively developed by several foundations. However, there are funders who have been successfully working with NQDs for some time. These experienced funders understand the frontline realities of supporting NQDs, and can share insights on the associated workload, required resources involved as well as the significance of these partnerships. We’re excited to welcome Phylicia Davis-Wesseling of the Toronto Foundation and Aldeli Albán Reyna of the Laidlaw Foundation, who will share their firsthand experiences in funding NQDs. Participants will have the opportunity for open discussion and brainstorming with Phylicia and Aldeli who will guide those starting out on their journey to support NQDs. If you are a funder and would like to receive a calendar invite to this Zoom call, please RSVP to Laura Klein, Program Manager at laura@environmentfunders.ca.
