Presentation Session Virtual Offerings Federal Government 101 (funders only) 22 June 2026 / Registration Closed Published: June 18, 2026 For Members Connect Session Federal Government 101 (funders only) Hosted by the Oceans Collaborative and Cathy Wilkinson, the goal of this session is to build a clearer understanding of how key federal departments and decision-makers, including Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC), Fisheries and Oceans Canada (DFO), the Privy Council Office, and the Treasury Board Secretariat all work together within the federal government. With so many acronyms, structures, and processes to navigate, we hope participants will leave with a stronger understanding of how decisions are made in Ottawa and how to more effectively engage with federal policy processes. The first hour of the session will provide a broad overview that will be relevant to a wide range of interests, while the final 30 minutes may focus more specifically on ocean and fisheries-related questions. We welcome you to join for all or part of the session, regardless of whether you are involved with the Oceans Collaborative. Cathy Wilkinson is a strategic advisor to the Our Land for the Future Trust (the conservation trust established to support implementation of the Northwest Territories Project Finance for Permanence initiative) and advises several philanthropic institutions. She is also a founding board member of the Indigenous Leadership Initiative, which supports Indigenous Guardians, Indigenous Protected and Conserved Areas, and conservation financing initiatives across Canada.
